This is an almond meal cake with a difference. The wholemeal and almond flours creates an earthiness to the cake which is perfectly balanced by the sweet goodness of honey.
This is a very versatile cake recipe that you can play around with a little. Add a few drops of rosewater or orange blossom water to the honey for an exotic perfumed twist. Or a few raisins into the cake batter.

- 150g wholemeal self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 300g unsalted butter
- 250g golden caster sugar
- 4 eggs
- 150g ground almonds
- 50g flaked almonds.
