Lemon Cake with Berry Sauce
Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- zest of two lemons
- 3 extra large eggs
- 3½ cups flour
- ¾ t. baking soda
- salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 T. fresh lemon juice
- ½ t. nutmeg
- For the Glaze:
- ½ cup lemon juice, fresh
- ½ cup sugar
For the Berry Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, mix:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- ¾ cup fresh or frozen black raspberries
- 1 T. fresh lemon juice
- 1 t. shredded fresh ginger, or dried ginger
- 3 T. sugar
